Rebecca Farwell - Weekend Cottage Miniatures

www.weekendcottage.co.uk

I have been making miniatures for a few years now, working mainly in polymer clay, but experimenting in other media as well. I began by making things for myself, then for friends, and then, when people asked me if I would sell my minis, for sale too. I make many different items, and am always happy to try something new to commission, but I specialise in miniature toys and tiny creatures.

I have several dolls houses of my own (every possible corner of the house is now occupied), and am so happy that I discovered this rewarding and creative hobby. I hope to inspire others to try making miniatures for themselves, as it is so satisfying.

I attend occasional shows, and have a website at www.weekendcottage.co.uk, where visitors are always welcome! I have a page of polymer clay tips there, as well as items for sale.

Poinsettia Wreath with Liquid Beadz
Rebecca Farwell
Poinsettia Wreath with Liquid Beadz Liquid Beadz are a fairly new product- tiny beads and glue already combined. They are marketed primarily at card crafters, but I was curious to see how they would work with polymer clay. I found that they give this festive wreath an interesting added texture and dimension . . . continue reading

A Little Guinea Pig
Rebecca Farwell
A Little Guinea Pig Guinea pigs were introduced to Europe and North America some time in the 16th century, and Elizabeth 1st had one as a pet. We know that there were shows for exhibiting guinea pigs in the UK in the 19th century. So you can happily introduce this little chap into any setting from late Tudor onwards . . . continue reading

A Cuddly Panda for your Doll's House
Rebecca Farwell
A Cuddly Panda for your Doll's House This panda is an adorable companion for your younger dolls house inhabitants. Begin by cleaning your hands with a wipe. I recommend doing this every time you handle white clay as it shows up every mark and speck. Make a ball of your white clay about ¾ of a cm in diameter. Roll it to an oval shape, then roll on the sandpaper . . . continue reading
