Model Maker

www.willowmodels.com

Established in 1984 by Martin Pearce, we have been professional model makers for almost twenty years. However, his experience and background in model making goes back much further. It was in the very early 1960?s that an "apprenticeship" was started with Airfix kits, Triang trains and scratch built models.

Over the years we have made a wide variety of models for many different clients and uses. These have included architectural models for both development and exhibition, historical models for museums, scientific models for educational use and prototypes for product design.

Gradually we have become more and more involved in the world of miniatures and have even made dolls houses for use as teaching aids in schools. With our background in model making, we can usually make anything a customer wants however strange, obscure or difficult and in very small scales. Our years of experience and expertise in a wide range of materials is at your disposal.

Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 5
Martin Pearce
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 5 In the last part we got down to marking out all of the pieces and then cutting them from our sheet of material. Although there is still a little work to be done on our pieces such as cutting out window openings, we are now ready to put the cottage together. In order to explain things . . . continue reading
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 4
Martin Pearce
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 4 So far we have looked at what we are going to make and considered what is involved in wiring the cottage. This part of the project covers materials, components, marking out and cutting everything ready for assembly. Please read through it all before buying any materials or cutting out any pieces. It may be necessary to alter slightly some of the sizes given here depending . . . continue reading
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 3: Lighting
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 3: Lighting The supply into the dolls house comes from a transformer. This is a fairly simple item that converts mains electric to a 12volt supply. Transformers specifically designed for dolls houses are readily available from relevant shops as well as shows and fairs. It is this type of transformer . . . continue reading
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 2
Dolls House Miniature Building: Rose Cottage Part 2 It goes without saying that certain tools to make the cottage will be essential. Some of these you may already have others you may have to buy or borrow depending upon your future intentions. Unfortunately, some of them may not be cheap but once purchased they are there for future projects . . . continue reading
