Welcome to the world of Miniature Knitting

Web Site: www.helena-petitefashions.co.uk

I was born in Holland during the war years. Things were not easy in those days with severe shortages of just about anything, but living on a farm meant that there was always food on the table. My mother had always been a good and prolific knitter and with a supply of wool from our own sheep, spun on a wheel constructed by my father there was certainly no shortage of warm clothing either.

Not surprising I was taught by my mother how to knit at a very early age, which was followed up as a subject at school a few years later. Very soon not only my two brothers but also family and friends were wearing my sweaters.

Carla Doll

About 15 years ago my husband realized a dream I had ever since I was a child and built a Dollhouse for me. After dressing the house I had to find clothes for the many dolls that I had collected and set about sewing outfits for the occupants. In one of the Dollhouse magazines that I had bought I came across a knitting pattern in 1/12 scale and after finding the right thread and blackmailing my husband into making a pair of 1 mm needles I knitted my very first outfit.

After having exhausted all the patterns that I could lay my hands on, I thought it was time to start and design my own patterns. At the moment new designs are coming at the rate of about two a week I am very happy and content and spend up to 14 hours a day on this fascinating hobby.

Tiny Togs

You can now find my patterns in one of the UK Dollhouse magazines, in my Webpage shop and at some of the Dollhouse fairs that I attend. At the same time I have started importing a thread that is extremely suitable for miniature knitting and sell the knitting needles in the four most popular sizes.

I do hope that you will join me in my journey into miniature knitting on DollHouseArtisan.com and enjoy knitting the patterns that I produce.
