Miniature Crochet

www.rozminiatures.co.uk

My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a child growing up in Leeds. Although she died many years ago, I would like to think she would be proud of what I have achieved.

I was given a doll?s house for my birthday in the early 1990?s. I had one as a child, but it was thrown, or given away. I bought various miniaturist magazines, mainly for the do-it-yourself articles, but it wasn?t until I bought my first doll that the idea of clothing her in crochet was first conceived.

Although there were knitting patterns in the magazines there seemed very little in the way of crochet. So, the idea was born to offer some of my own designs to Dolls House & Miniature Scene. My first design, a dress for a little girl, was published in Issue 48. miniature crochet Since my first efforts I have had over fifty designs published in either Dolls House & Miniature Scene or Dolls House Projects, with more to come later this year and next.

In 2003, my book ?Miniature Crochet Projects in 1/12 Scale? was published by The Guild Of Master Craftsman Publications ? ISBN 1861082738. It had taken four years from the initial idea to appearing in print, but it is something I am particularly proud off, especially as I had always wanted to be a writer. I am pleased to say it seems to have been well received, the second edition is now on order.

Early in 2002 I set up my own website at www.rozminiatures.co.uk I had originally used a free web service, but my own domain meant I was no longer at the mercy of advertisements or download limits. I designed everything myself, including the backgrounds, buttons, headings, etc.

I have always been arty-crafty and will have a go at most things, though I have yet to try either silver smithing or glass blowing.
