Baby Girls Nursery Set

Every nursery needs some adorable accessories to fill the cupboards and shelves. With a bit of imagination you can create pretty handmade items easily and cheaply. Learn how to make a cot blanket, bonnet with matching bib and even some fluffy baby towels! For this project you will need:
White Felt at (least 15x15cm)
White embroidery canvas ( 3x3cm)
Pink picot braid ( 60cm)
White miniature towelling fabric( small squares)
Mouse tail or other fine cord ( 8-10cm)
Small silk or satin ribbon bows
Miniature towelling fabric
Glue
Scissors
A 5p or similar small coin ( approx 16mm diameter)To make the cot blanket, cut a rectangle shape out of the white felt, measuring approximately 8x6cm. As you cut the felt, you can either leave the edges square, or round them slightly as I have done. Add a tiny amount of glue all the way around the edge of the felt and then carefully trim your blanket with the picot braid. You can finish off the blanket by adding a little bow in one of the corners.
To make the bonnet, cut a smaller rectangle form the felt measuring approximately 1 ½ cm x 3 ½ cm. When this felt is folded in half, it will form the baby bonnet, but first you need to trim the outside with picot braid. This time you only need to trim two thirds of the bonnet, as shown. Gently fold the felt in half, and add a little glue to the inside of the non trimmed felt, to make the back of the bonnet. Cut two small lengths of cord to make little bonnet ties, and then glue these on the inside.

To make the bib, you need to draw around the 5p coin marking the shape out on the canvas. Leave a small section of the circle missing just at the top. Then you need to fill this gap with a little "c" shape on its back. This is the basic bib shape and you can now cut this out. It is easier to trim the outside edge of the bib first, so use a little glue around the edges of the big circle, and then stick the braid down, allow a small excess at either end to form the bib ties. Now you should be left with the small "c" shaped section in the middle which you can trim in the same way.
If you can get your hands on an old "real" babies bib, you can cut it up and use the towelling fabric. It is exactly the right type of towelling for miniatures. To make a stack of nursery towels, simply cut small pieces of towelling, fold them over and layer them together. You can finish off your towels with silk little bows.
