Guinea pigs were introduced to Europe and North America some time in the 16th century, and Elizabeth 1st had one as a pet. We know that there were shows for exhibiting guinea pigs in the UK in the 19th century. So you can happily introduce this little chap into any setting from late Tudor onwards . . .
